Mrs. Huffman

Do you have any hidden talents?
Does putting on band aids, tying shoelaces, welcoming students with a smile, collecting reading folders, giving high fives and offering a shoulder hug, and taking roll all at the same time with my two outstretched arms count? Surprisingly though, I do manage my own fantasy football team and was the World Champs last year! I’ve actually won the super bowl title three times being the only female owner in the league with the help of my three daughters’ help picking players every year.

Do you have any hobbies?
In my spare time away from school, I like to yell my loudest at the Broncos games (season ticket holders for over 20 years.) I also have golf date nights with my husband, Doug. I’m trying to get in my daily 10K steps on my new Fitbit walking my wiener dog, Sadie. But my favorite hobby is to go to the mountains hiking and searching for moose, flowers, and sunshine!

What is the funniest thing a student has ever said to you?
Student: “Hey mom can you help me?”
My reply “Wait. Can I really get to be your mom this year?”
Student: “No thanks. My mom really loves kitties not moose Mrs. Huffman!”

What is your favorite board game?
Right now I’d have to say The Game of Life. We love to play this game as a family and it makes me smile in this season of my own life. My oldest daughter graduated from SDSU and is working and living in San Diego with a public relations firm. My twin girls are just beginning college this year in two different states. We are spread apart but what wonderful memories we share when we’re back together laughing and playing this game of Life.

What do you love about Dakota Valley?
That’s easy- the families, friends, and kids! Dakota is a community of fantastic people working together, helping together, leading together, and learning together! Go Coyotes!
