What is your hometown?
I grew up in Littleton, CO and remember the days before Highlands Ranch and when driving to the Plains Conservation Center took at least 30 minutes “out of town” as a kid!
Where did you go to college?
I studied evolutionary biology at the University of Kansas—ROCK CHALK!—and got my teaching master’s at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon.
What is your favorite book, movie, and TV show?
My favorite books are the Aubrey/Maturin historical novels by Patrick O’Brien. For movies, the Blues Brothers is up there and I know every line. The old Star Wars and the newest Star Wars are pretty rad and I’m also a big fan of the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. I don’t watch a ton of TV but my newest favorite is Downton Abbey.
Who is your hero or heroine?
I have a lot of people I admire, but Malala Yousafzai is the person I’d most like to meet and have come to Dakota Valley to inspire our students.
What do you love about Dakota Valley?
I love the amazing diversity of our students. I love meeting our wonderful families and the support they give to their children and to myself.
